What video games are Mystery School playing in their secret lair?
Over the past couple months, we’ve been tuned into the Twitch livestream(s) of producer/DJ Owen Bones and Tony Reed Jr. (aka. Sir Michael Rocks of The Cool Kids) of Mystery School. The duo pretty much goes live every Monday and Wednesday featuring interviews with musicians, rappers alongside DJ sets, freestyle rapping & beat making, video games, Mystery School Radio and more.
Rarely do these collaborators surface from their secret lair (except for listening parties and performances) but we recently connected with the duo to talk about the Mystery School universe. Why Twitch? “As we were working on this music, we had a lot of conversations about how to cut through the noise; social media is at its extreme.” Owen Bones explained. He went on to say, “Twitch is one of the best places on the internet - verifiably in terms of viewership statistics - to get people’s attention.” With gaming being such a big part of their influence, we had to ask them what games they’re currently playing right now. “We’re always big game dudes, we’ll always be playing the coolest shit that’s out.” Tony noted. They also slipped in a game they’re both looking forward to.
Check out the full list below. In the coming weeks, we’ll have more about Mystery School’s approach to music, live streaming on Twitch and the larger aspirations they have for this project. Mystery School’s self-titled debut album is on Spotify and Apple Music. Mystery School also just launched a limited edition run of merch featuring hats, utility bag, longsleeve and more.
