On it, she weaves autobiographical vignettes in with stories and insight about Sun Ra, Octavia Butler, Eartha Kitt, James Baldwin, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Nikki Giovanni, and more. Taken together, it’s a masterful patchwork of black art tied together by Woods’ insightful lyricism. Legacy! Legacy! Unfolded presents a live experience expanding on the album. Woods will perform stripped-down versions of the songs in the round, exploring the influences throughout the album augmented by filmic collage, found footage, audio clips, photographs, and new commentary*
