HAPPY HOLLYY-DAYS: Hollyy, Rich Robbins, Living Thing
Hollyy, the Chicago-based alternative group notable for their infusion of blues and jazz, will take Sleeping Village’s stage next Friday, December 17. Crediting Sharon Jones, Lee Fields & The Expressions, and Otis Redding as a few of their favored artists, they’re bringing an evening of retro-rock intermixed with soul at the first-ever Hollyy-Days.
Joining Hollyy are two Chicago-based songwriters: Rich Robbins and Living Thing. A rapper, songwriter, producer, and educator, Robbins’ is an active collaborator amongst fellow Chicago rappers including Mick Jenkins and Saba. Robbins’ free-thinking mentality translates vividly in his music, welcoming listeners to join him in his act of self-reflection through personal lyrics and smooth tempos. Behind Living Thing is Danielle Strautmanis whose debut EP “Everything Is Green'' takes listeners on a soulful journey that prioritizes one's self-care along with their surroundings. With dreamy melodies that exude optimism, Strautmanis is entering the scene with an elevating body of work.
