The west Chicago suburb of Oak Park is the home of many talented emcees at the moment including Supa Bwe, XVRHLDY, St. Millie, and 19-year-old Kahrion. As the oldest of his household, Kharion was placed in a leadership position from the jump. With no older siblings to vent to and show him the way, Kahrion sought an escape from life’s stresses and an outlet to express his experiences. While attending Oak Park River Forest High School, Kahrion met producer and fellow Chicago native Von Vuai during their sophomore year. The two had an instant connection and quickly began creating music.

Following his time at OPRF and releasing several loose tracks to the general public, Kahrion moved to New York to attend St. John’s University. While out in New York, Kahrion dropped his debut project Aura Tape and received positive feedback from classmates out East, but less than rave reviews from the music community back home. After just a year at St. John’s, Kahrion decided to come back to Chicago, leaving the future of his college career unknown. Kahrion hasn’t decided to forego a college education, but for now, he’s planning on staying in or near Chicago to continue to build relationships locally and work on defining his sound.

During his time away from Chicago, Kahrion’s resources to create music have changed drastically with frequent collaborator Von Vuai moving to Atlanta and the recording studio he used to call home closing its doors. Like many artists in his position, there are no shortage of obstacles on Kahrion’s road to a career artist, but after a conversation with the young creative, it’s clear that these obstacles have not damaged Kahrion’s spirit. Moving forward, Kahrion seeks to explore different production styles and work on continuing to create new music that is both personal and relatable. While Kahrion develops a follow-up to his debut, make sure to get familiar with the highlighted tracks above and keep an eye on Kahrion as he battles his way to the forefront of Chicago hip-hop.
