New Jersey rapper Da$h has been in the hip-hop game since the beginning of this decade, but has only recently been gaining the attention that he properly deserves. Loosely affiliated with A$AP Mob, as well as being Dame Dash’s nephew, the snarling substance abuser first stepped on my radar when he released ChRon Burgundy back in 2011. With production from Skywlkr, Ski Beatz, Blended Babies, and more, the debut mixtape showed serious promise for the buzzing star. That mixed with his Caveman Files mixtape (done alongside producer Sean O’Connell), Da$h quickly became an artist that I would never deny when it came to clicking a download link. 

Now, four years later, he has quite the discography. From split singles with Larry Fisherman (aka Mac Miller) to two tapes with friend/fellow rapper RetcH (together known as H’z) to being featured on the A$AP Mob compilation, Da$h is becoming a more well-known name across the country. His standout/spotlight tape was V.I.C.E.S. from back in 2013 which featured Action Bronson, Ab-Soul, Vince Staples, Thelonious Martin, and more. Despite the large names, Da$h held his own on the project, often one-upping his guests. 

Since dropping V.I.C.E.S. two years ago, Da$h has found his way onto tracks with Remy Banks, Earl Sweatshirt, Sir Michael Rocks. The list goes on. Quite possibly his biggest track of 2015 is the drugged out Houston anthem “Fetti” with Playboi Carti and Maxo Kream, a song I can't stop listening to. 

Most recently, the chain smoking tobacco fiend released 17 More Minutes out of the blue. Don’t let the title fool you, though: the project contains a dozen songs and clocks in at over half an hour. The title is actually a reference to wanting a seventeen minute cigarette break with his close friend A$AP Yams, who passed away back in January. RIP.

The free mixtape 17 More Minutes is full of strong production, minimal guest features, and showcases a vivid wordsmith who paints lyrical abstractions with ease, taking sips from his double cup in between blunt hits and booty calls. Da$h is a name you’ve most likely been hearing more and more of recently and his newest offering is a prime example of why that is.
