22 year old Chicago rap superstar Polo G leads the pack of Chicago artists this year building on his domination of the rap world with his 2019 album Die A Legend, 2020 album The GOAT (landed on our AOTY 2020 list) and 2021 single “Rockstar” which is smashing the streaming charts. Chicago indie darlings Whitney will perform on the heels of their 2020 covers album tiled Candid. Mick Jenkins 2020 album The Circus landed on our 2020 Albums of the Year list, so we’re thrilled to see Mick out hitting the festival stage here at home. Dance pop heroes DRAMA will hit their biggest hometown festival stage to date after a handful of massive 2020 releases with dance acts like Gorgon City and Poolside.
One of Chicago’s fastest rising talents Serena Isioma will also make their Lolla debut. Isioma’s 2020 EP The Leo Sun Sets hovered at the top of our 2020 Albums of the Year list and their 2020 single “Sensitive” went viral on TikTok throughout the year pulling in 38 Million steams on Spotify alone. Chicago rockers Rookie will bring their nostalgic bar rock to the stage, they released their self-titled debut album in 2020. NEZ, one half of the production duo Nez & Rio will perform a solo set. Recent single collaborations include ScHoolboy Q, Flo Milli and Felix Da Housecat. Chicago’s own Neal Francis will bring his honest, dancey, funk rock to the sunny Chicago skyline at Lolla. Francis released his debut album Changes in 2019 to critical acclaim. Finally, These Days favorite Tobi Lou was raised in Chicago and spent much of his creative career in and out of the city will also perform. Lou collaborated with fellow Chicago artists Dreezy, Rockie Fresh and Peter CottonTale in 2020, releasing his last album Live on Ice in 2019.
