Säge, The 64th has been a consistent presence in the Chicago rap underground, spinning a love of anime, kung fu and story-telling into a tapestry of colorful hip-hop. The Slumpgang member’s recent movement has been a focus on what he calls “Shikigami Jazz”, a pared down blend of the old and the new, a combo of the subtle and in your face, bringing to the table something that is energetic and different. The project we have today is accurately titled Album On Xmas, a brief look at his official upcoming December release Shikigami Jazz, which, based on this, is something we should all be looking forward to. However you’d describe rap’s current wave, Säge is moving against the crowd here in a way that’s unforced and refreshing, exhibiting patience and a knack for painting a picture with his songwriting (he's got a great feel for the cinematic) while never sacrificing the energy of the moment. His talents as a producer and lyricist are all looking great based on this preview, and we're eager to see what else the 64th Wonder has in store for us.
