One of Chicago’s best producers, Mulatto Beats, saw two different songs put out this past week with two fantastic Chicago rappers. It’s Qari and Lucki, releasing their tracks “Basic” and “Self Destruct” respectively. Off names alone you know these are going to be good tracks, but we’ll dive in a little deeper.

First there is “Basic” from Qari and Mulatto, Hurt Everybody fans come hither. Mulatto Beats production features some guitar strings bent to all hell, and Qari’s delivery and lyricism are similarly fluid. Qari has one of the most underrated flows in Chicago, and on “Basic” once again he’s anything but. This track is a piece of the upcoming Countdown 2 Midnight project that 119 Productions has been assembling with the help of some local favorites.

Second, there’s “Self Destruct” from Lucki. Mulatto’s beat is filled with horns cutting through foggy percussion, and Lucki’s flow is the perfect complement. It’s classic Lucki but with a little more breathing room than usual, and the end result is a very chill song you’ll find yourself coming back to. This serves as the first single from Mulatto's upcoming solo project that we hope to hear more of very soon. The yet to be titled project with be produced and constructed by Mulatto Beats featuring a number of collaborators, old and new.

Both hot tracks, and both indicative of what Mulatto's been up to in recent months. Plenty of new music from all parties on the way shortly.
