Round Up • New Releases From Famous Dex, Sir Michael Rocks, Njomza & More

Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.

1st (Ft. NJOMZA) • "For What It's Worth"

It's definitely the age of the flexible artist and that comes evidenced here as FKi 1st, a producer who came to prominence making beats and writing for Post Malone, 2 Chainz and several others and earlier this week dropped off a single that finds him handling things on the other side as well. Dude has certainly had a nice year and is currently in the process of releasing a trio of EPs with Diplo's Mad Decent imprint. Here, we find him opposite the first lady of Most Dope as Njomza continues to emerge as we dig deeper in 2016 on this upbeat, interesting single, "For What It's Worth". Check it out for yourself below.

Ty Dolla $ign (Ft. Future & Rae Sremmurd) • Blasé (Wheathin Remix)

We last wrote about Wheathin a couple months ago when we debuted his redo of Opia's "Falling" and it appears the wunderkind has been busy, this time taking a page out of fellow Chicago dance music makers Louis The Child as he puts his own spin on Ty Dolla $ign's single "Blase" featuring Future & Rae Sreummurd. It's been cool to see a new lifeblood of the city's longstanding dance scene continuing to push forward on that front and Wheathin has been positioning himself to walk down a similar path laid by LTC. Get in tune for yourself here.

Famous Dex • "Y3@: W#@+"

If you don't know Famous Dex's name by now, you just haven't been paying enough attention. The animated south side artist has exploded onto the scene throughout the end of last year and first half of 2016, buoyed on the country-wide wave of internet-bred sensations like Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty, Famous Dex has filled the streets with a litany of new material and returned last week with a video for yet another single in "Y3@: W#@+". Counting money, check. Gold teeth, check. Yup, it's a Famous Dex video.

LIL DURK F/ YOUNG THUG & YOUNG DOLPH • TRAP HOUSE (REMIX)

Lil Durk continues to flourish as one of the most successful entrants to the game from the Drill side of things and pushes ever forward with another new visual, this one for the remix to "Trap House" featuring Young Dolph and Young Thug. Lil, Young, Young, don't be fooled by the designations though, their time in the trap is very much real, and they prove as much here. Check out the video for yourself above.

Sir Michael Rocks • "Kilo On Craigslist"

Typically, if you're in the market for a kilo of a substance of some sort the internet isn't exactly the best place to cop. Not that anyone over here would know, but you know, common sense and whatnot. Nonetheless, Sir Michael Rocks throws caution to the wind with his latest video for the single "Kilo on Craigslist." Easily one of the weirder, goofy singles you'll probably catch this month, the video follows Mikey as he comes into possession of some narcotics in a roundabout way and spends the rest of the day figuring out how to unload. It's fun, it's different, it's Sir Mikey in 2016. Enjoy.

KatieGotBandz • "Jump Off The Porch"

Do not get Katie off the porch. That's the general sentiment of this single off the female Drill rapper's single "Jump Off The Porch" from her 2015 release, Drillary Clinton 3 that got a visual rendering released to the world over the weekend. While it still remains to be seen if the Clinton campaign will adopt the rapper's mixtape series as part of their approach to the White House in 2016, it would surely strike an aggressive tone with this video. I don't know what the hell I'm talking about right now, there was a connection building there, it's cool; just watch the video.

Plu20 Nash • "Lonely"

Plu2o Nash is a busy man and appears to be peeking out from a short hibernation as warmer weather begins to indicate the season of stepping out in the city. Plu2o is preparing to do just that, with the impending release of his #NashEffect project that "Lonely" will presumably make an appearance. The accompanying visual is a trip as well, enjoy at your leisure and for more on Plu20 here.
