Big moment; we’re looking at the Smino’s first ever video release. How is that possible, you might ask? Because as an artist, Smino doesn’t half-ass anything, and it’s no surprise that his video debut is pretty damn incredible. The track is “Blkjuptr”, opening song to the project of the same name. Blkjuptr was titled as such because, in Smino’s words, “being a black man in America feels like you’re on damn Jupiter sometimes”. Watch the video and you’ll see him represent this visually in an amazing way.

It’s a beautiful visual undertaking of the song. The album art has been given life, with Smi performing in a pitch black room as an amazing dancer painted as the constellations slinks throughout the video. It's the loneliness of marginalization before our very eyes. The essence of Smino's vision has been captured here, as the music, philosophy and visuals come together in a way that's borderline perfect. Don't be surprised if the video blows up, and once again, go out of your way to see Smino perform as much as possible while you still can. This dude is going places.

LA readers, catch him on June 7.
