Last July, Chicago rapper/producer Kolby Woods released Play Dead 19, an eight song project fully produced by himself (with some help from duo Meniskos). As he prepares to release Play Dead 2, a follow-up of sorts, Woods decided to hold fans over with an intermezzo playlist. Made up five previously unreleased tracks, some of which are instrumentals from the previous drop, this project is sure to keep us entertained until we hear PD2. With tracks like "Dead.Safe", "Stunned.Dead", and "Dead.Timeless" (yes, Kolby Woods likes discussions and topics of death and mortality), these crackling, instrumental loops show us how much the 197 artist is honing in on his production skills. Sounding like something contained with an Adult Swim interlude bump, PD19 1.5 is a fitting intermission we all need before hearing more from this multi-faceted Chicago talent.
