L.A. VanGogh • "Change My Number"

Directed by Jay Caves

We named L.A. VanGogh one of our artists to watch this year and he's making us look pretty good so far. Following up the short EP Friends First late last year and new single "Change My Number" at the top of this year, L.A. links with Heart of the City's Jay Caves for visuals to accompany the latter. The song produced by L.A. himself and Ambi Lyrics as safensound has quickly become a fan favorite.

A song about not knowing when to move on. "Change My Number" isn't what you might think at first glance. L.A.'s not trying to avoid an ex, he's pursuing her. She's too good to let go and L.A. spends the next five and half minutes trying to get in touch. Jay Caves uses several different settings for the visual component and Pat Banahan added the animation. The juxtaposition of the each scenes' setting serves as a great example of how L.A. approaches his music. Sometimes he raps, sometimes he sings, and whatever he's doing he does so with a gusto that keep us looking for more.
