Qari • "Foolish"

Using January for their EP, “Space Jam,” Qari and Mulatto Beats return to smooth out March with the new track “Foolish.”

True to himself, Qari always finds a way to get his message received, as for how he makes it look so effortless, that I don’t know. I like how he controls the paradoxes of his life over the music, when he says,  “I meditate with the Buddhists, I celebrate with the shooters,” the imagery is unmistakably clear, and it gives the listener an interesting way of understanding him.

Qari being the mellow assassin he is, keeps calm, playing with words as he peruses Mulatto’s bright medley of synthesizers. As I listened, more sounds began to stick out, I caught all the twinges, the flickering white noise, the filter sweeps, the crackles of static, Mulatto put a lot of effort into the automation of this track. Cohesively, the background is dancing with vocals, giving the song a psychedelic aspect, especially towards the end.

Qari and Mulatto, have managed to remain a formidable force since their early days in “Supreme Regime.” With a solid EP under their belts and a consistent stream of releases, it appears to be an exciting 2017 for Chicago’s dynamic duo.
