L.A. VanGogh (Ft. Nosidam) • "Cause..."
This past weekend L.A. VanGogh released a new track into the world. “Cause…” is a gassed up soul track showcasing the artist’s current sound: an amalgamation of R&B, Soul, Electronic, and Hip Hop.
A warm, breathy Rhodes lays out lush chords flourishing over an up-tempo breakbeat, the bassline manically following suit. L.A. VanGogh appeals to Chicago’s cultural flavor of mixing Gospel, Soul and Footwork with his genre fusion.
Nosidam’s feature adds to the medley of vocal performance on the track. Seductive choral harmonies sporadically interject themselves into the precise and in-the-pocket flow of VanGogh. The track races like excited particles, butterflies in the stomach, the sublime state of being in love.
Released in conjunction with PVTSTCK studios and mixed by Matt Hennessey, “Cause…” is one of two singles released since VanGogh’s 2017 EP Everything is Subjective, Episode 1, a cinematic project which pivots around self-examination, appearing on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist, boosting the artist’s reach of new listeners outside of his Chicago home-base following.
