Linquency • Desurfacing

I know very little about Linquency, other than that Desurfacing is the first release under that name for the Chicago-based artist once known as Glocque. And on it, they make good on the promise of the blank slate afforded to them by their new artistic identity - cranking up the BPM to the hard techno range and leaning into club and acid house-tinged industrial sounds only hinted at on their previous full-length release, 2015’s Gloveless Brain Transplant. The incomparable Mikey Joyce lends the artwork to this hypnotic EP, which clocks in at a tight and efficient three tracks long; but can very easily suck you in for much longer than its 12-minute runtime if you’re not careful. Whether Desurfacing ends up being the first of many releases under the Linquency name or just a brief artistic exploration for the man behind the production, we’ll be keeping an eye out for whatever comes next. Listen to Desurfacing below.
