Yung Creatives • Lili K
Yung Creatives is a monthly panel curated and hosted by These Days' Jake Krez at Soho House Chicago. To provide added insight on the talented young people taking the stage during the next discussion, we've decided to pair the event with a series of digital features. Over the upcoming weeks, we'll turn the spotlight on each member of the forthcoming panel one at a time.
There's no shortage of strong female voices in Chicago right now, but Milwaukee transplant Lili K caught this wave real early. A classically trained musician, Lili began her life of music early at an art centric high school in Milwaukee and brought her talents to Chicago in order to attend Columbia College. Lili graduated from the Chicago art school with a bachelors degree in arts, entertainment, and media management; laying an essential foundation for her chosen career path.
While Lili took her studies seriously, her time at Columbia allowed her to cross paths with Chicago's young and vibrant music community. Around this time, Lili and Peter Cottontale of The Social Experiment worked closely together. Their frequent collaboration even resulted in a joint project called Metal Petals which features a young Chance The Rapper who just dropped his debut "10 Day". Lili's voice started getting recognized a whole lot more following her work on some huge collaborations including Chance's "Hey Ma", Vic Mensa's "Hollywood LA", and most recently "Sunday Brunch" by Chuck Inglish.
Lili's smooth voice has been in high demand by Chicago's leading talent, but she's also involved in the production of her solo material alongside her band, aptly called The Lili K Band. Lili's recently released debut Ruby, serves as an introduction to both Lili's band and the music Lili wants to make when she's behind the wheel. With something to call her own, Lili rode her debut album to nationwide recognition. With everyone from 2DopeBoyz to Rolling Stone covering Lili K's music, it came as no surprise when Lili was named the first ever Tidal Rising artist, Tidal's tool to discover and spotlight independent artists.
We highly advise you to check out Lili and her band on Ruby and a stage near you soon. In recent years Lili has touched stages at Lollapolooza, Made in America, CMJ, Pitchfork and more. A tireless worker, Lili has accomplished more than most at 24, but she continues to push forward as a solo artist and a strong collaborator, making her an ideal candidate for this months Yung Creatives.
