Pink & Powerful: Sophia Galaté talks Chicago and Artistry
Decked out in pink, sparkles, and overall ultra-feminine energy, Sophia Galaté basked in the spotlight on stage at Lincoln Hall in Chicago performing songs from her album, “For My Own Entertainment”. Going from behind the scenes in touring and artist management to the public eye as an artist herself, Sophia Galaté had a full circle moment when she joined her former client James Vickory on his Live on Tour showrun. Sophia is now headlining her own tour in March 2026.
Sophia addressed the crowd on ambition, fear, and following your dreams. Her ballad-esque performance of her cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” further emphasized “For Your Own Entertainment”’s message of confidence, courage, and self possession. A creative slowed take on the classic woman-anthem, Sophia played with irony in her honest and captivating performance.
“In my music, there’s really
a mood and emotion for everyone. [These songs] really represent the human experience. With this album there’s fun songs, there’s sad songs, there’s songs about being in love, about going out with your friends, about being mad at someone...”
Having studied music in Chicago, Sophia is heavily influenced and inspired by Chicago music, specifically historical jazz. On her home turf in VSOP Studios, she spoke with These Days about her attachment to Chicago, being on tour and performing live, and her artistry.
