Pitchfork Music Festival 2016 Lineup Full of Chicago Acts
Pitchfork has announced the lineup for their 2016 festival held at Chicago's Union Park on July 15-17th. As in years past, Chicago-based publication continues to represent well for it's hometown with Chicago acts BJ The Chicago Kid, Jeremih, Mick Jenkins, Twin Peaks and Whitney featured throughout the 3-day festival. BJ The Chicago Kid will be supporting his Motown debut album 'In My Mind' that dropped this week. Jeremih will surely play a few tracks off his well recieved 2015 release 'Late Nights.' Mick Jenkins will represent as the only Chicago rapper on the line-up. Twin Peaks will have a new album out by the time the festival gates open. Indie darling Whitney will have their debut album out as well. Gary, Indiana producer JLIN will also be performing a DJ set of her footwork friendly beats.
The rest of the line-up up features a diverse line-up of performances from Dr. Dre's latest signee to Aftermath Anderson .Paak, The Beach Boy's Brian Wilson performing their classic album Pet Sounds and Carly Rae Jepsen of "Call Me Maybe" fame landing on the line-up due to her critically acclaimed pop album Emotion that dropped in 2015. Thundercat and Saxophonist Kamasi Washington will represent the blend of funk, jazz and hip-hop. We will also see hip-hop legends Digable Planets and experimental pop artist FKA Twigs. Other acts include songwriter Sufjan Stevens, indie rockers Beach House, rising star Shamir and singer Blood Orange. Check out the full daily line-up breakdown below. Friday: Beach House, Broken Social Scene, Carly Rae Jepsen, Girl Band, Julia Holter, Mick Jenkins, Moses Sumney, Shamir, Twin Peaks, and Whitney.
Saturday: Anderson .Paak, BJ the Chicago Kid, Blood Orange, Brian Wilson performing Pet Sounds, Car Seat Headrest, Circuit des Yeux, Digable Planets, Holly Herndon, Jenny Hval, Kevin Morby, Martin Courtney, Oneman, Royal Headache, Savages, Sufjan Stevens, and Super Furry Animals.
Sunday: Empress Of, FKA Twigs, Holy Ghost, Jeremih, JLIN, Kamasi Washington, LUH., Miguel, Nao, Neon Indian, Oneohtrix Point Never, Porches, RP Boo, Sun Ra Arkestra, The Hotelier, Thundercat, and Woods.
