BoatHouse • "Taylor"

Warming us up nicely for the Boiler Room x Closed Sessions showcase this Friday is this exclusive Debut from Closed Sessions affiliate, BoatHouse. Smoothness comes naturally to this twenty-something Chicagoan producer of downbeat hip hop, a trait shown in abundance with his latest GIRL EP, forthcoming on Closed Sessions. Dropping in full in a couple of weeks' time, the EP is a homage to women in the form of music. Today's Debut and our pick of the bunch, "Taylor (Lady In Red)" is a joint to ease us perfectly into the mood for Friday night's broadcast live from New York City. Don't sleep.

GIRL. That's the only word that needs to be said.

Closed Sessions producer BoatHouse is prepping his debut EP GIRL by dropping one of his loose ladies "Taylor". Also known as the "Lady in Red", “Taylor” is a fast-paced babe that will have you doing a double-take as you stomp your way through the club. How fitting that this song was premiered through Boiler Room days before the Closed Sessions squad visit New York to headline a Boiler Room CMJ showcase alongside Your Old Droog, DJ Rude One, Mr. MFN eXquire, and more. If you're in the NY area, that show is going down tonight. Consider it a squadly taste of things to come.

While this is the first single from BoatHouse's first EP (which will be released in the coming weeks), know that he has plenty of strong music already out. He recently helped with the Closed Sessions' compilation Spicy Caliente EP, and he also assisted with production on projects by Kweku Collins, Odd Couple, Lucki Eck$, and, most recently, a single with WebsterX and Allan Kingdom. Know that anchors are being dropped soon for the Boat that also acts as a house.

While you're getting caught up on your Closed Sessions squad in preparation of their CMJ Boiler Room show, you can also check out the most recent single from Kweku Collins, who's new track "Memorial" premiered over at Paper Magazine earlier this week. The song is melancholic and playful, like exploring within a lucid dream. Maybe next time Collins (who also produced the track) will be kind enough to let us premiere one of his strong singles.
