ICYTWAT • WET TWAT

Chicago artist or not, the name ICYTWAT may be new to you (this should be a yes-no question, you'd probably remember). Myself, it took a friend from NY to fill me in - Midwest Rasputin he may be, but ICYTWAT stays residing in the deepest corners of the internet. Let’s get familiar; here we see the man’s Soundcloud bio.

ICYTWAT, also known as Lil Fendi, is an American producer & recording artist from Chicago, IL and member of Divine Council.

This is a man who knows how to name things. Given his alias, the producer and rapper recently released his full-length WET TWAT, a strange beast that needs to be heard. It seems to live everywhere, an ambient blob inhaling aspects of music and leaving behind a trail of condensed vibes. Just add water.

ICYTWAT finds support from his Divine Council (Richmond, VA) brethren on vocals, and they all recognize that their role is to support ICYTWAT’s soundscapes and not vice-versa. With ICYTWAT, production is the star. WET TWAT demonstrates this yet again, bringing to the boards tracks that are warm yet distant; it’s the memory of a good time. I’m reminded a bit of Rustie, but why draw comparisons when you can just enjoy a unique artist as is? A combination of natural, nostalgic samples and arcade noises, you can practically feel the needle hit the record on this project, bursting with fuzz. “Lil Shorty 2” best demonstrates the feel; a love song that you can’t be sure is a declaration or just melancholy reminiscing. Either way you can get down to it, and ICYTWAT knows that’s the important part.
