Rockie Fresh • 'The Night I Went To...'

It's been a minute since we've seen a heavy output of content from MMG signee Rockie Fresh, who joined the label in 2012. After an influx of new music over the last few months, today he released the first full-length project since joining the imprint in The Night I Went To.... The free releases arrives a bit flat, with mixed promotion, and obviously not receiving the kind of attention from the Bawse Rick Ross that Meek Mill has garnered with his bullshittery. Unless I missed something, The Night I Went To... hit the streets after a three year wait with seemingly little to no promotion around it, save for some recent singles and a trailer at the end of the year.

Other than The Birthday Tape EP and Fresh Veggies EP (alongside Casey Veggies), both of which dropped back in 2013, this is really the first we've seen from Rockie since he signed on the dotted line and headed out west to join Rick Ross. Just before leaving, he gave us the mercurial Electric Highway tape that, while solid, felt like a step down from Rockie's Modern Life and Driving 88. Regardless, it is always a treat to get new Rockie and this one arrives with features from Ross, Chris Brown, and Ed Sheeran. We're still getting into this one at press time so expect some more words coming about this one in the near future. For now, check the stream below and kick back to the first collection of music from one of the city's more talented MCs in nearly three years.
