Mathien • "Loan"

For the better part of the past month or so the one and only Chris Mathien has been offering up a consistent new single that have arrived on time and with increasing interest. This Monday Mathien dropped off another new one in "Loan" which seems to somewhat embody the singer himself in it's ability to seamlessly glide across several different sounds that range from a sort of swing, cabaret feel to more rock-centric feels.

The prevailing theme of all the posts around Mathien's current marathon of single releases has been the somewhat of a resurgence we've seen from him that is directly reflected in his music. We weren't sure what we were going to hear from him once he left for Knoxville, but this proves that he has hardly left the music behind in Chicago and has been fruitfully building out his ability across the board, here on "Loan" he finds a pretty beautiful cross-section to operate from.
