Femdot • Fo(u)r
For those who've taken the time to listen, Femdot has brought us along on quite the journey these past couple of years. At just 20 years old, he's has juggled an aspiring career in music and a higher education. With his studies maintaining a high priority, the music side of things remained fairly low key. That wasn't because Femdot didn't offer up a substantial amount of music, or didn't pass the quality control test, but instead of being out here schmoozing among the Chicago music scene he spent his time studying biological sciences at DePaul.
With school coming to an end and a sequel to his 2013 debut project Femdelacreme in the works, the young Evanston native has prepared a short and sweet EP to get new listeners in tune with what to expect from him. Like the title alludes to, the project is only 4 tracks deep but it says more than most do in their whole discography. Young in age but an old soul, Femdot captivates listeners with his witty wordplay over instrumentals drawing inspiration from hip hop and soul records that existed before he was even born.
While I've enjoyed Femdot's music from the jump, Fo(u)r is his best work to date and he's still got plenty up his sleeve. Femdelacreme 2 is due out later this year, but Femdot has plenty planned for the time in between these two projects. If you don't know the guy yet, you will soon enough. The summer of Femdot is upon us.
