Jude Shuma • "Float"
Before Chicago was a hotbed for hip hop, it was better known for its strong indie rock scene. The city has birthed everyone from Smashing Pumpkins to Fall Out Boy over the years, but the rock community has lessened since those times. With acts likes Twin Peaks, Whitney, The Orwells, and Jude Shuma, the genre seems to be making a comeback and it's doing more than just floating by.
While we do think Jude Shuma is a member on the rock community generally, his music knows no bounds. Jude's new release "Float" serves as a great example. The instrumentation is full and complex, but the melodies keep you calm throughout. Meant for a different time period perhaps, Jude's psychedelic feels have listeners experiencing sounds they're just not used to hearing in 2016. "Float" is the first from Jude's upcoming EP, one we're expecting to hear very shortly. In fact, Jude tells us, "The whole ep will be out 6/16, its four tracks of pure summer glory. Tracked it all to tape….recorded and produced it myself again, i'm pretty excited".
Well we're excited too Jude! Can't wait for that new and currently untitled EP.
