Jamila Woods • "Blk Girl Soldier"

Directed by Randall Tockes

No one has started their year like Jamila Woods has, but she's anything but an overnight success. First crossing my radar as part of M&O alongside fellow singer songwriter Owen Hill, Jamila has been blessing our speakers for years, but just recently got a spotlight pointed in her direction following some pretty major collaborations with Chance The Rapper and Macklemore just to name a few. Now a fresh face on Closed Sessions' ever growing roster, Jamila has been focused on the release of her solo debut and has recently previewed "Heavn" and "Blk Girl Soldier" before that.

Today, Jamila provides a powerful visual to accompany her "Blk Girl Soldier" single. Calling on a couple of talented young ladies as her "blk girl soldiers" and peppering in b roll of protest images old and new, the single's empowering message is brought to life. With an unwavering passion for her music and the world she lives in, I think we can count on Jamila to continue to provide vocal performances that wow us and content that inspires change.
