Lil Durk • Lil Durk 2X

Four years ago or so, the scene in Chicago revolved around the world 'Drill'. While Chief Keef dominated the sound and came to embody the sub-genre in it's entirety, plenty of artists plugged away on the ground floor, looking to make good on the attention the city got in the wake of "I Don't Like". While plenty have come and gone over the years, Lil Durk has emerged as perhaps the quintessential star not named Keef or Louie to emerge from the Drill scene and today he continues to craft a longstanding career with the release of his long-awaited project, Lil Durk 2X.

This time around, we find Durk as he's nearly ascended the journey he began on his own block just under five years ago. With a pair of offspring prominently displayed in his album artwork and the message of the project itself a nod to the place the project finds him, Durk arrives with his latest collection as a fully-minted rap star, albeit one not ready to settle into his newfound success so easily. The co-signs speak to his brevity with Ty$, Young Thug and Yo Gotti underlining the prevailing message in his music by associating himself with similar figures from other locales. Of course, his monster hit (which I have some issue with), "My Beyonce" featuring Dej Loaf will surely help with any numbers. Dude has certainly shaped his career into one of the more illustrious to rise out of Drill, and he continues to prove it with Lil Durk 2X. Check it out below.
