Allan Kingdom • "The Ride"

Directed by Ben Hughes and Allan Kingdom

At the beginning of the year, Allan Kingdom followed up his critically acclaimed Future Memoirs (2014) project with the full-length Northern Lights. At thirteen songs in length, the cohesive, unique, autobiographical album remains one of the finest releases of the year. Thankfully, Mr. Kingdom has been keeping all eyes on Northern Lights by releasing a steady supply of accompanying videos.

We saw visuals for the self-titled track shortly after the album's release, then Allan Kingdom followed up with videos for "Fables" and, now, "The Ride". Directed by Ben Hughes as well as Kingdom himself, the video showcases his stomping grounds in the summertime. Out in nature, dancing with family and friends, attending sporting events, singing by a creek, it all goes down here. While Minnesota is known for cold weather, and while Kingdom just kickstarted So Cold Records, the summer months still provide sunlight amongst the evergreens. It's a nice and refreshing release, one that will hopefully prolong the warmth. Enjoy the video above and be sure to revisit Northern Lights this week. While you're at it, peep Kingdom's most recent solo single, "Froze".

I said I done changed
but I’m still the same
I said I’m deranged
but I’m still so sane”
