Mick Jenkins • The Healing Component

Mick Jenkin's Chicago bred, southern raised perspective has been a favorite of Chicago music fans for years, most notably gaining traction following the release of 2014's The Waters. The analogy for truth continued with the release of his Waves EP the following year as new member of New York indie label Cinematic Music Group. Mick is thirsty for answers, for meaning, and his music has always been a reflection of that. It's no secret that the message Mick is attempting to convey is a little more serious than what you may hear on the radio on any given day, but he's attempted and succeeded over and over again to polish that message in very consumable form, one that's captivated fans who are now seeking to "drink more water". Never preachy, always raw, Mick Jenkins music has been nothing if not consistent.

The truth is out there, and it may be a hard pill to swallow, but Mick's debut album released this morning is on a mission to heal. With love as the underlying medicine, The Healing Component seeks to begin mending. A little kindness, a little empathy, and an open heart can go long way today, and Mick Jenkin's is spreading the message track by track.
