The Walters • "She's Gonna Leave You"

It's been a minute since we last heard from the familial-inspired stylings of Chicago's own, The Walters. While the self-proclaimed "Hunky Dads" stepped out for select performances throughout 2016, following in the wake of their debut full-length, the aptly-titled Songs For Dads that quickly became one of our favorites and vaulted them to the forefront of the local indie scene. Proving they have no plans of letting up in the new year, the guys returned this week with the Kristina Pedersen-directed video for their latest single, "She's Gonna Leave You".
If you know Pedersen, who has written a bit for us here at TheseDays and has generally been one of the more interesting creatives to pop up in recent memory, then the visuals make a good deal of sense. Set amongst the dream-like backdrop of a jazzercise class, the boys get their workout in, flanked by plenty of lycra and sets them amongst a sort of lo-fi 90s-esque world that seems simultaneously familiar and odd, a hallmark of a Pedersen production. While these days it's easy for just about anyone with some musical ability to hit it big with a single on the internet or whatever instant-gratification medium they go for, it's often forgotten that music is a fully-fledged form of entertainment and it's a sentiment not lost on this outfit. Seeing The Walters at last year's Chicago Nightlife Awards where they performed a quick song, it was immediately evident that Luke and the guys know how to move a crowd. I have tried to make every set I've seen around town since. If you're looking for something different that certainly won't bore in a live setting, make sure you check these guys out soon. Great video, great song, it looks like The Walters are off to the races in 2017 and will also be hitting the road, check out the dates for that below.
