Smino • "Father Son Holy Smoke"
From the start, this song commands a strong fascination. Spilling out of the speakers Smino’s vocal direction provides a glossy melody, transitioning, Smino then carries the track with an exciting tempo and vivid imagery. “Father Son Holy Smoke,” projects a nostalgic undertone. Smino touches on issues often familiar to young black men in America. While proclaiming his position on the effects of systemic prejudice, Smino also tells us how he deals with the reality of it. Although “Father Son Holy Smoke” hits close to home with its discussion of problems in our society, the song also shines an optimistic light on the ability of this St. Louis native to conquer growing pains and succeed regardless of obstacles.
Five days until the release of the highly anticipated blkswn, Smino brings blessings in the name of the father, the son, and the holy smoke. Recorded and produced by THEMpeople, Zero Fatigue pays tribute to the 314 by releasing Smino's big debut tomorrow, March 14th. There’s no question St. Louis and everyone else is dying to hear Smino's first full length project.
