The longest-running underground film festival in the world officially kicked off this week right here in Chicago. From now through November 22nd, Chicago Underground Film Festival (CUFF) will be showcasing an impressive and diverse schedule of programming featuring filmmakers from around the world and These Days’ very own mini-documentaries.

While the 27th edition of CUFF won’t showcase programming at its usual setting in the Logan Theatre, this year’s film fest will is instead being hosted online, providing fans an immersive digital festival experience. CUFF’s regular scheduled online programming includes films like Take Out Girl by Hisonni Johnson, Dusty Groove: The Sound of Transition by Danielle Beverly, and many short-film programs.

In addition to the virtual programming schedule, CUFF will also be showcasing drive-in showings for this year’s fest across two nights at ChiTown Movies in Pilsen on Thursday, November 12th, and Friday, November 13th.

Thursday night’s drive-in programming will feature a total of 10 Chicago short films, including Periphery (directed by award-winning filmmaker Lonnie Edwards), Man of The People (directed by Amir George), A Galaxy Sits in the Cracks (directed by Andrea Raby), and many more. Friday, November 13th will kick off with more Chicago shorts, followed by special programming featuring These Days’ Kevin Coval & Langston Allston’s Everything Must Go, Victor IRL, and The Genesis of Internet.Hotspot —all shot and directed by Mike Sager.

CUFF is also set to announce an official online-afterparty featuring DJ sets by a few artists that will be announced on Saturday, November 14th.
