Oreo Fest Continues To Grow With Its Third Installment At Portage Theater (Video)

Directed by Yakub Films

From its humble beginnings as a birthday bash for its founder DJ Oreo earlier this year, Oreo Fest has grown into a festival Chicago natives are actually excited to attend. While other festivals bring acts from all over the world, Oreo Fest shines the light on local talent, packing each lineup nearly as deep as the amount of fans who come out to support. With the first one selling out Reggies Rock Club on Chicago's near south side, the event continues to grow into larger venues, with the most recent party being held at Portage Theater, a 1,300 person room in the Portage Park neighborhood.

The latest edition of the series showed off another heaping of local talent including Lil Durk, KatieGotBandz, Saba, Leather Corduroys and many more, all the while co-hosted by none other than Metro Boomin. The cavernous, dated aesthetics of the Portage Theater gave the entire event a sort of uniquely underground feel that added to the overall sense of the show itself. This time around things seemed to be continually smoother and dancers dotted the inlets across the back of the theater throughout the show. Proving that rap shows can most definitely be a regular thing on the north side there were no reports of violence or anything of the sort as the night culminated in a thoughtful motivational speech from Oreo himself. To bring out the crowd he did on a Sunday night is a continued testament to Oreo's influence around Chicago. Check out the video above for more from Yakub Films.
