It's clear that over the last 5 years Chicago has crept into the international spotlight and local publication Chicago Magazine has chosen to highlight 19-creatives they determined as 'The New Bohemia." For those passionate about local Chicago music, many names may look familiar like Mick Jenkins, Saba and Eryn Allen Kane whom have had national press coverage for several years. New to the national spotlight but steady rising Chicago talent includes Save Money rappers Joey Purp and Towkio.
The list also features those 'behind the lens' like Director Austin Vesely and photographer and frequent These Days contributor Bryan Allen Lamb. The list made up almost entirely of 20-somethings features poet E'Mon Lauren Black at 19 years old. The list features three past members of former band Kids These Days; Liam Kazar (Marrow), Macie Stewart (Marrow, Homme) and Donnie Trumpet (The Social Experiment). One interesting note - all 19 artists have collaborated with Chance The Rapper on a recording, visual or live show performance. Chicago Magazine's piece also features these creatives clothed by many local brands like OG Brand, Saint Alfred, Stock Manufacturing Co., Ends/Wealth Corp and more due to styling from Chicago's own Whitney Middleton.
