Red Bull Music Festival Chicago Announces 2018 Programming & Lineup

Red Bull has announced the 2018 programming and lineup for their first Red Bull Music Festival in Chicago. Running November 3rd-30th, ten different venues throughout the city will host 15 events ranging from arena concerts to Red Bull Radio Live podcasts, multi-disciplinary performances to full one-day festivals. Red Bull’s Chicago takeover starts on November 3rd a Wintrust Arena with a G.O.O.D. Music ensemble performance featuring Nas, Pusha T, Teyana Taylor, Valee, Desiigner, Sheck Wes, 070 Shake and of course some special guests. The festival wraps up with a hometown performance from Jamila Wood’s; who at the press launch event noted “this is the performance of Heavn I’ve always wanted to do.” Hosted at Harold Washington Cultural Center; the performance of her debut album will feature strings, a choir, DJs, poets, dances and visual artists.

Additional events include an all ages festival celebrating Chicago’s Latinx community (performances by Tatiana Hazel, Victor!, Kaina, Pachanga!); A Conversation with No I.D. moderated by Andrew Barber, Cupcakke takes over Thalia Hall, a celebration of drone music, an 80-min music and visual performance of Where Future Unfold — Flowers for Chicago by the Black Monument Ensemble and more. Red Bull Radio will be holding live broadcasts for flagship shows Peak Time and Interdimensional Transmissions with programming covering topics including women in midwest rave with DJ Heather, Eris Drew, and more; as well as a rare sit down with the man who helped build house music, Robert Williams. Other noteworthy events include a performance from Vic Mensa at Saffron Rails; an industrial space on Goose Island and a curated 11-piece ensemble performance from jazz drummer Makaya McCraven.

In 2017 — Red Bull held a monthlong marathon of shows called “30 Days in Chicago.” The multi-genre series of concerts featured some of the biggest names in music all colliding in Chicago after a previous 3-year run in Los Angles.
