The Art Institute of Chicago and Pitchfork Announce Three-Night Event 'Midwinter'

The Art Institute of Chicago and Pitchfork have announced ‘Midwinter’ - a three-night music event Friday, February 15th thru Sunday, February 17th. A takeover will include a wide variety of performances from over 30 artists including Kamasi Washington, Panda Bear, Slowdive, DJ Koze, Joey Purp, JPEGMAFIA, Tortoise, Jlin, Mykki Blanco, Deerhunter, Grouper, Perfrume Genius, Zola Jesus, Mount Eerie and more.

Midwinter will be open from 6:00PM-12:00AM each night of the takeover with surprise performances in various spaces and ambient noise installations inspired by various exhibits. Gallery Soundscapes will come from Nico Muhly, Tashi Wada & Julia Holter, Stars of the Lid, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Midori Takada, Visible Cloaks, Helado Negro and Llyas Ahmed. Pitchfork Radio will be doing a series of broadcasts featuring artists interviews, DJ sets, panels, conversations and more.
