Max Wonders • "88 Changes" (Video)

Fresh off of his most recent release, You Will Never Find EP, 18-year-old rapper Max Wonders gives us the visuals to his single “88 Changes”. The fogged-out and lonely space cadet anthem is an emotional reflection piece, perfect as the opening track of his stand-out EP. Wonders seems to be slipping out of reality and into a lucid dream where anything is possible. “They don't wanna see you rise,” he sings, “but they just wanna watch you fall. So go ahead and close your eyes cause none of this is real at all.” Wonders is clearly a student of both Kid Cudi and the Chicago hip-hop scene and it shows full force with this music video and single.

Directed and edited by Max Wonders and shot by amourlosangeles, the video is yet another piece of evidence of Wonders hand-crafting his own musical world. He is an auteur, one that co-produces a large chunk of his own music (although Sowie dominates the production credits on this EP). Given Wonders' sophomore effort, The Wonder Tape, last year, and You Will Never Find EP this year, it's no wonder that influential music blog Pigeons & Planes had him on their list of 20 artists under 20 to look out for.
