Kami • "Home Movies"
Directed by Andre Muir
SaveMoney member KAMI (formerly Kami de Chukwu) has been relatively silent ever since releasing 2015's Season as part of Leather Corduroys alongside Joey Purp. While he's been keeping quiet in the public's eye, he's been hard at work on his upcoming solo release. To kickstart the well meditated campaign and rollout for his properly cared for project, we get the lead single known as "Home Movies". Featuring a crisp throwback vibe, the video showcases diner daydreams as KAMI and Co. act as a live band known as Kami and the Whatevers. Featuring Joey Purp on bass, Vic Mensa on guitar, Nikko Washington on drums, and Knox Fortune (who produced the track) on keys, the dramatized backup band makes for one hell of sight. With KAMI front and center for the synth heavy dance track ("I told her we can make that movie at home"), the end result is a well-crafted music video (courtesy of Pitchfork) that has us even more excited for KAMI's upcoming project.
