Leslie Marie • "Ruby"
I've been listening rather heavily to music from Leslie Marie ever since she grabbed my attention back in March with her single "Bourbon". Since that time, she's released a three song EP called Merci which features the track "Tranquility", a song that remains one of my favorites of 2016. Following up that release, she dropped the coastal/summertime single "Ready Okay", and later performed Sofar Sounds Chicago. Little by little, she's gaining attention, perfecting her craft, and honing in on her sound.
Most recently, Leslie Marie released "Ruby", a loose single that clocks in at under two minutes. While it is a quick demo, the song is also pitched as being Leslie's "first guitar track", as she puts down the ukulele and begins to learn a new instrument. The result is a relaxing lullaby, perfect to soundtrack an upcoming weekend power nap. Be sure to look out for much more from Ms. Marie in coming weeks/months. Something tells me she won't be closing out 2016 quietly.
