UG Vavy • "Brand New Wave"
“Brand New Wave” is right, UG Vavy is doing something different and has been for the last year. The Chicago artist produces and raps (and saves lives too, somebody find this man a cape), and most importantly, as far as the music goes, has an ear for songwriting. Watch him live and this is clear as day; despite a small library of released music, the crowd not only turns up, and really turns up, but knows these songs inside out. You'd think he was playing a radio hit, but its simply UG Vavy doing what he does best. Then again, in the age of internet and the Chicago music renaissance, I think it's fair to say Vavy has hits for days.
So first things first, you can count "Brand New Wave" as another W for UG Vavy. The track is more low-key than some of his other releases, particularly in terms of his production, but that gives more space for him to shine on the vocals. There's something subtle about "Brand New Wave" that'll keep you coming back to it, primarily the verses and chorus, which sees UG Vavy doing the back-and-forth singing and rapping he excels at. His flow is always on point, and as usual this is again the case. Anyways, grab your board, get on the wave, and keep your ears trained on UG Vavy. If you thought his 2016 was good, just wait for what's in store. He's only just getting started.
