Since the jump, Taylor Bennett's career has been a bit of a roller coaster ride, but following the release of Broad Shoulders late last year Taylor has been back on the rise. His recent album and a string of feature verses (some of which you can find below) has hoisted Taylor into the national spotlight as he competes alongside a gang of emcees from Chicago and abroad for XXL's 10th spot on this year's Freshmen list. Often compared to his big bro Chano, Taylor speaks to that in  the CeoBeatz produced "Straight From The Bottom", a tale about relying on one's own efforts instead of reaching for an assist from others. I have to admit, there was definitely a time I didn't see Taylor stepping out from behind Chance's larger than life shadow, but it's clear to me now that Taylor is not only dedicated, but also skilled enough to do it. With growth and maturity often comes honest and content driven music, and I think we're just now starting to hear what Taylor is capable of.
