Thelonious Martin • 'Static'

A prelude to Late Night Programming. This like a secret channel you only get if you wiggle the antenna just right.

New Thelonious Martin, always a good thing. This fresh project is called Static, and it’s a spectacular ode to the TV junkies out there (it’s a lot of us). Looking short over 3 tracks, or Acts, Thelonious Martin takes the notion of creating a mix to the next level, injecting each track with Poltergeist fuzz and dialogue / monologue television audio samples for the incredibly clean effect of surfing channels. It’s so clear, so simple, and pulled off so clean. Despite the throwback sound, Thelonious Martin is easily one Chicago's most cutting edge producers at the moment, and the nostalgic elements on the surface of Static are simply camouflage for his unconventional approach. Static isn't the night's main event though, but simply one hell of an intro. Says Martin, Static is "a prelude to Late Night Programming. This like a secret channel you only get if you wiggle the antenna just right."
