Round Up • New Releases From Adamn Killa, Human, Kahrion & More
Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.
Adamn Killa • "Spin"
“Spin” is what you get when you put together Chicago rapper Adamn Killa and a one of the smoothest producers out there, Shlohmo. It’s a track that is pure fire; you’ll surely find yourself bumping this song over and over again. Adamn Killa’s effortless rapping and Shlohmo’s leisurely, but precise beat blend together simply and beautifully. We hope to see more collabs between these two in the near future.
Human • The Roseland Free Lunch Program
He’s been in the studio cooking up a lot of new work for us to listen to; back with The Roseland Free Lunch Program is Chicago rapper and beatsmith Human. Human is from Roseland on Chicago's south side, and uses this as the inspiration for a lot of his music. This EP is the leadup to his next full length mixtape, set to drop this summer called “The State;” be on the lookout for that to drop, and in the meantime tide yourself over with The Roseland Free Lunch Program.
Kahrion • "Hands"
Oak Park native Kahrion steps away from his frequent collaborator Von Vuai this time, to work with Austin based producer John Scott in his newest release “Hands.” The hip-hop artist left college on the east coast to return to Chicago to create music, so when he repeats “It’s all in your hands,” on the hook of this song, we know that he understands as well as anyone that your future is what you make of it. We wish continued success to this young artist.
Saga (Ft. theMIND) • "Never Mind"
Explosive; that’s the only word to describe the pairing of Brooklyn-based hip-hop artist Saga and Chicago’s own Thelonious Martin. So it’s fitting that the two recently released a project that brings together two of the best hip-hop scenes in the country, and they’ve titled it “Molotov.” Throughout the full length, 12-song tape, there’s no room for boredom, as each song grasps your attention and brings something different to the table. Our personal favorite was “Never Mind,” which also features the soulful Chicago singer, theMIND. Hit play below, and listen to the trio’s organic chemistry come to the light.
Wave Chapelle • "Audible"
Don’t miss the wave; listen to Wave Chapelle’s newest release, “Audible” below. Featuring production by his frequent collaborator Maajei Vu, this song is an overflow of energy and vigor by the young rapper. Treasure this loosie, as we wait for Wave to follow up the release of his debut EP “W” with his next full length project.
