We welcome the return into the realm of Vice City. THEMpeople member Sean Deaux delivered the first part of the experience last year and it remains one of my favorite releases of 2015 (listen to "XANtalk"). Now, closing out the summer properly, Deauxva returns with Vice City 2, a seven song EP acting as a proper follow-up to the first installation. Soaking his content in THC extract and Codeine bottles, the result is a hazy, atmospheric project lost in the midnight clouds. The glitched, dimly lit sequel lurks in the lonesome darkness. About the project, Deauxva himself states, “I wanted to sonically create a moment in real time that captured the euphoria and withdrawal of a particular drug I was taking frequently: Her.”

Entirely produced by THEMpeople, perhaps Chicago's most respected collective, as well as executive production and oversight by THEMpeople comrade Michael Anthony, Vice City 2 is an allegory of addictions and abuse. Full of instrumental switch-ups (listen to "GLO"), thick bass, and guitar solos from Dallas native Ben Hixon, the project also features guest verses from Brian Fresco ("JR Smith") and Smino ("No Cape"). Along with releasing the seven song EP, Sean Deaux also dropped the visual piece, "Preface", to accompany the project. Stream the EP above and enjoy the video below. We'll be looping this project for the remainder of the year.
