Round Up • New Releases From Kahrion, Lex Allen, The Belief Cycle & More

Another week halfway gone and as always, the music hasn't let up across the midwest. Today we have a brief Round Up featuring a cross-section of local acts near and far. Included below are the likes of Milwaukee's Lex Allen, Drew Mantia's new endeavor The Belief Cycle and some heat from one of our favorites in Kahrion who teams up with Sean Deaux. Check all that and more below!

AKONIxx (Ft. Saint Millie) • "Dash"

Marking his fourth release of 2017, AKONIxx finds Saint Millie for “Dash”, produced by AMG. He’s been consistent thus far. With the exception this latest release, AKONIxx has handled his own production this year. The beats come correct as does Akoni. Showcasing his lyrical prowess since 2013, expect nothing less than dope; he knows what he’s doing. As an OD Records affiliate, AKONIxx has a project dropping soon and listening party at Jugrnaut on May 17th.

Drew Martz, Ajani Jones & Banks The Genius • "CAKE"

Last week we found a new collaborative from some Chicago based artists. Drew martz, Ajani Jones, and Banks The Genius come together for “CAKE”, released via Мишка[Mish-kuh] Records. Jones and Martz set the tone with a two punch combination. To the rhythm of his eclectic instrumental, Banks closes out with chill vibes & wordplay. As individuals, I wouldn’t be surprised if songs of this caliber become more frequent. Look out for these three, something’s definitely in the works.

Kahrion (Ft. Sean Deaux) • "Blue Roads"

Chicago’s Kahrion pays tribute to a fallen friend with “Blue Roads”. Produced by John Scott, Sean Deaux makes an appearance on the song as well. The song is without a doubt a tough pill to swallow. The city lost an aspiring talent by the name of John Walt this past February; one of the founding members Pivot Gang. With beautifully descending flute progressions, the beat makes an ideal canvas Kahrion’s winding flow. If anyone ever told you that hip hop wasn’t made from the soul, have them listen to this song. As we look out for the next release from Kahrion, give this track a spin. #foreverjohnwalt

Lex Allen • "Never Look Back"

Produced by Jacob McMillan, Lex Allen’s “Never Look Back” is a track to make your soul pop. The song and it’s “coming of age” sentiments, inspires one to let go of their earthly tethers; be what you’ve always envisioned yourself being. Apart of the Milwaukee based creatives, New Age Narcissism, free expression is a major aspect of his music. We’re in an age where, unpopular beliefs and/or lifestyles have better platforms to communicate. We haven’t seen a star quite like Lex Allen in the mainstream media. With tracks like this, a fanbase is sure to grow. Listen to the new song here.

The Belief Cycle • "Miss The Thought (Of Missing You)"

It has been a precocious year for The Belief Cycle. Adding to the mix this week is “Miss The Thought (Of Missing You)”, another TBC (The Belief Cycle) Tuesday in the books. Last week, “PRSR” premiered as the first of their weekly installments. Sonically, their setting a tone for versatility with these last releases. Leadman producer/singer-songwriter, Drew Mantia, keeps the pace with his finger drums. While his voice caresses the beat, Ryan Marquez’ chord progressions take you for a smooth ride. Check in next Tuesday for the next helping of The Belief Cycle.

Ty Money • Cinco De Money 3

Released over the holiday, Ty Money’s Cinco De Money 3 is here. Standing twelve tracks long, the project totes a plethora of producers. Sticking to his guns, Chicago’s Ty Money delivers chart toppers one after another. What’s more, he received a feature from local legend Bump J. Produced by Novacane Muzik, “Yes or No” allows Ty and Bump to flex lyrically; one of the stronger tracks on the project. Ty Money looks to keep us on our toes this year. After a project like this, a tour is surely inevitable. Expect to see more movement from Ty this summer.
