Polo G • "Battle Cry"
North Side’s Polo G has yet to drop a full-length, but gems for the tentatively titled Die A Legend are piling up with this new single. “Battle Cry” is an ode to his side of town, his closest friends and the hardships they had to endure together. Teaming up with director Ryan Lynch, Polo presents the 1300 block to the world during a cold Winter night. “I was still hangin' in the hood before I signed a deal,” raps the rising MC and he evidently still does even if his streets carry hefty emotional baggage. His pain is striking and empathetic and lines like “Lotta shit happened way too fast, I ain't have time to heal,” have connected all over the world.
He isn’t a mainstream artist yet, but his star power is undeniable. Backed by legions of fans, his videos reach millions of views within a couple of hours of their release and they stay on trending pages for days. With more music on the way and an opening slot in Lil Mosey’s tour, Polo G is ready to represent the city on a bigger scale. Watch above.
