Looking Ahead • Mamby on the Beach

The weekend is here and that means it's time to kick off your 4th of July celebrations in style, on the beach, with all of your favorite music. As Reacts Presents celebrates the beginning of their second annual Mamby on the Beach festival, we wanted to take a moment to break down our plans for each day and share who we're excited to see!

Like any large festival set up, there are plenty of people to see and things to do, but unless you're an overachieving 15 year old, you may not be able to see a piece of every performance throughout each of the 9 hour days.

This year Mamby has added a number of things to the array of festivities including the new Park stage. For those keeping track, there's now the Beach stage, Park stage, DJ tent, and Silent Disco for you to divvy up your time between. I can't think of a better way to start the weekend off than to head straight to the beach when doors open to catch back to back performances by some of our Chicago favorites, Zebo followed by Ravyn Lenae and Monte Booker. Zebo has been a staple in the Chicago electronic community for years and the Monte/Ravyn combo is still fairly fresh in comparison, but both are sure to get that adrenaline pumping to carry you from the rest of the day. From there it's off to the park stage for most of the afternoon. Starting with LA trio Lany at 2:15pm, that stage goes on to host K. Flay, Kaytranada, and Lido the Norwegian producer who played a part in crafting Chance The Rapper's "Angels". Might have to cut Lido's set a little short to get back over onto the beach for Chicago's own Wild Belle followed by festival season regular Atmosphere. If that's not your scene, I suggest catching up with local acts DJ Earn Money and Bengfang over at the Silent Disco before capping off your night with Milky Chance, Tale of Us, or Animal Collective

Sunday's schedule is no easier to decide as the Park and Beach stages battle for your attention all day long. Saturday was a rough one, so maybe you show up a little later in the day Sunday. That's okay there is still plenty to see starting with FKJ and Thao & The Get Down Stay Down both starting at 3:30. From there its Gallant and Ryan Hemsworth facing off at 4:45 followed by 7:15's obvious choice, Lupe Fiasco. Capping the night off is either Chet Faker, Loco Dice or Santigold. While Santigold was just in Chicago pretty recently, I'll probably be leaning in that direction. She puts on a great performance that I suggest checking out.

In addition to the music, Mamby offers plenty of other fun including water balloon fights, yoga, palm readers and plenty more. During those gaps in your music schedule, be sure to drink lots of water, charger your phone, eat and experience everything the second year festival has to offer! While I like to think that my itinerary is gold, you can make your own at mambybeach.com

Last but not certainly not least, These Days will be live streaming directly from the festival grounds. Check back tomorrow afternoon for live video coverage of the festival and interviews with all your favorite artists!!
