It's no secret that Chicago has a constantly growing cultural community, and behind any cultural growth are people that genuinely care about the city they live in and the people who call it home. Among some of the great people doing this often necessary groundwork is the Closed Sessions family, a local independent record label that wanted to keep Chicago talent in Chicago and help provide their artists with the tools they need to get their music into the ears of music fans.
Since their inception in 2008, Closed Sessions has since amassed a healthy roster of diverse and extremely talented musical and other artistic talents. Producers, singers, rappers and more, Closed Sessions is a self-sufficient artistic incubator that has been able to assist their artists receive national media attention, perform on a handful of festival stages this past summer, and release one memorable album after another.
Just this past weekend Closed Sessions teamed up with Boiler Room TV and Topman to bring an exclusive and intimate set to East Room on Chicago's north side for Boiler Room's Neighborhood series featuring several artists from Closed Sessions' own roster along with other buzzing Chicago names like Towkio, Joey Purp, Malcolm London and more. Staying true to the old saying "there's no rest for the wicked", Closed Sessions returns tonight with their full roster to perform and all Closed Sessions revue at the Common's Club within Chicago's Virgin Hotel. Following some monster summertime releases from Jamila Woods and Kewku Collins, and just before the release of new work from producer oddCouple, tonight's revue will surely introduce the unfamiliar with why we love these guys and girls so much and hopefully also give us a sneak peak at what's to come this fall.
This 21+ plus event begins at 8pm and early arrival is strongly suggested. No need to cough up any dough for entry, Closed Sessions has you covered for the price of an RSVP. If you had other plans, cancel them, this show is not to be missed.
