Chance The Rapper and Sir The Baptist Nominated for 2016 BET Awards
Chance The Rapper has picked up three 2016 BET Award Nominations. The biggest nomination is for "Lyricist of the Year" alongside Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake and Kanye West. Joining Chance for the 'Best New Hip Hop Artist' nominations are Anderson .Paak, Bryson Tiller, Desiinger and Tory Lanez. "Coloring Book" is up for 'Best Mixtape' alongside projects from Future, French Montana, Lil Uzi Vert and Young Thug. Although not a direct nomination, 2 Chainz is also nominated for a BET Award for 'Sweet 16: Best Guest Feature' on Chance's "No Problem" also featuring Lil Wayne.
Sir The Baptist has perhaps one of the most unexpected but well deserved nominations. The Chicago rapper earned a nomination in the 'Impact Track' category for his hip-hop hymn 'Raise Hell' featuring CHURCHPEOPLE. The Baptist is nominated alongside Jay Z, J. Cole, Jidenna and Raury.
Kanye West has eight nominations, which include Best Hip Hop Video, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Video Director of the Year, MVP of the Year, Album of the Year, Hustler of the Year and Best Hip Hop Style.
The final count is three nominations for Chance The Rapper, one nomination for Sir The Baptist for a total of four nominations (12 if you count Kanye) for the City of Chicago. The BET Awards 2016 air on BET on October 4th at 7:00PM CST.
