Red Bull Debuts Digital Round Robin Project

Red Bull has recently launched a brand new interactive site called Digital Round Robin. Inspired by their recent Round Robin event, which brought together musicians from across all genres to perform 5-minute improvisational duets, users can create their own musical mash-ups by combining different songs from a selection of musicians to create a song of their own. The Digital Round Robin allows users to act as both composer and producer, controlling the decibel levels, adjust quantization, speed, as well as which musicians play. The mash-up can then be recorded and shared with the public.

Some of the artists who have contributed to the project include Chicago-based musicians Akenya, who has worked with Noname, Smino, Saba and Chance the Rapper, and Katinka Kleijn, who’s known as “Chicago’s First Lady of the Cello.” With a simple control interface, the Digital Round Robin is a fun, new way to allow creatives to make new music and share with one another. It will be worth keeping an eye on to see what mash-ups come from it.
