The A.S.A. Project • OH! What A Place!
Last Sunday Chicago trio The A.S.A. project swung by our radio show, and prior to that, most of us had only had one of those not so personal social media relationships with the team. The more we learned and spoke with these young musicians, the more we liked them and appreciated their more. They have a very positive energy about them. Emcees Spazz and Reelo have been making music together for a couple years now, but their debut as The A.S.A. Project adds DJ and producer Turnip Gawd to the mix. All products of different sides of Chicago, Spazz, Reelo and Tunip Gawd all bring different but similar inspirations to the group. Their career as musicians has only been part time so far, as they all continue to further their education, a trait we're seeing more and more of in recent years. If their music and personalities continue to show such tenacity and dedication, hip hop will likely treat The A.S.A. Project well, but there's no harm in having a plan B.
Choosing not to overwhelm listeners their first time out, The A.S.A. Project limits their debut OH! What A Place! to only five tracks with a single feature from SKYLR, another new Chicago name that you should get to know. Sharing the same management team as Eryn Allen Kane and crooner Anthony Pavel, SKYLR's certain to gain recognition quickly, but A.S.A. got her on the IKON produced "Bon Voyage" early on in her career. The rest of the project is all Spazz and Reelo, and it's quite the introduction for those who aren't familiar with their previous music. With a strong team behind them and talented collaborators in their corner, there's nowhere to go but up fro The A.S.A. Project.
